What we do

Drone shipments, done right

Many drones and components are classified as dual-use goods, and their lithium batteries are dangerous goods for air transport. In many markets, radio and camera equipment also needs import approvals. We classify the goods, check export and import requirements and book carriers that accept the batteries.

FAQ

Drones & unmanned systems: FAQ

Can't find your answer? Email ops@ziem-logistics.com or call +49 40 57290280.

Can drones be shipped by air?

Yes, subject to dangerous goods rules for their lithium batteries and any export control requirements. We check both before booking.

Are drones dual-use goods?

Some are. It depends on technical specifications such as range, payload and navigation systems. We check the classification against the applicable control lists before export.

How are drone batteries shipped?

Lithium batteries are dangerous goods in air transport. They must be packed, labelled and declared under the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. Batteries packed with or inside equipment follow different rules than loose batteries.

Do drones need import approvals?

In many countries, yes, for example for radio equipment or telecom approvals. Requirements differ by market, and we check them for the destination.

Can drone spare parts be sent by on-board courier?

Parts without batteries usually can. Batteries are restricted in passenger baggage, so we check each shipment individually.
